THE WORLD OF

SOAP is a series of daft, illustrated storybooks about ageing superheroes who refuse to retire quietly.

They face ridiculous villains, everyday problems, and their own creaky bodies,  showing kids that just because people get old, it doesn’t mean they’re done yet.

MEET THE HEROES

Humphrey is

A frail old man who can stop time,
But gone are the days when he fought crime,
In a supermarket he stopped the clocks,
But why he did, he then forgot.
A bumbling villain, a mask on his face,
Stormed into the store to rob the place.
What happened then, you’ll have to see,
Will Humphrey remember who he used to be?

Theresa is

Once the fastest woman ever born,
Zipping after bad guys from dusk ’til dawn.
But in her old age, Theresa had to slow,
Lightning quick, she could no longer go.
But when a thief crashes into her bingo hall,
Her legendary speed she must recall.
Will the baddy take the money and get away,
Or will Turbo Terri save the day?

Phil and Barry are

Two giant twin heroes were once super strong,
Fighting anyone who did wrong.
But as they got old, their joints became sore,
Arthritis set in, they couldn’t lift anymore.
But one quiet day, a truck races down the lane,
Towards some children playing a game.
The brothers must find their strength once again,
Can the children be saved by the two old men?

Maureen is

A hero whose voice could stop villains mid-track,
Now hard of hearing, she’s holding it back.
She keeps to herself, and tries not to speak,
But a life without noise is particularly bleak.
One day at the bank, she hears a crash,
A ridiculous robber is stealing the cash.
Will Maureen find her voice and save the day,
Or stay quiet and let him get away?

Dan Kelsall

Hi, I’m Dan.

I’m a proud dad, and I write stories about superheroes who are past their prime because, one day, we all will be too. SOAP was born from wanting to make kids laugh, make parents smile, and to remind us all that just because people get old, it doesn’t mean they should be forgotten.
